Sample Itinerary

Day One

Arrive in Ketchikan, Alaska at 3:45 p.m. The floatplane picks you up around 4:15 p.m. for a breathtaking 20-minute flight to Sportsman's Cove Lodge on Prince of Wales Island. There, you are greeted by our friendly staff and guided to the Dining Room. You’ll enjoy mouth-watering appetizers while waiting to check-in. Our hospitality team will then show you to your room and let you get settled. A hearty dinner will be served at 6 p.m.  You’ll be welcomed to the Lodge by Captain Mac. After dinner, you will attend Boat Orientation, be fitted for raingear and receive a special gift from The Otter Shoppe. Indulge yourself with our nightly serving of milk and cookies.

Day Two

Prior to breakfast, customize your lunch from our huge spread at the Spike Table. (We eat lunch aboard the boats so we don't miss out on fishing time.) A big Fisherman's Breakfast is served at 6 a.m., where you'll dine with your Captain and plan your fishing strategy. At 6:30 a.m. you'll board your boat and head out to the fishing grounds for a full day of Southeast Alaska's finest sports fishing. Upon returning to the Lodge, weigh in pictures will be taken and the Dock Crew will efficiently see to your days catch. After a long day on the water, we will tide you over with another round of delectable hors d’oeuvres. Dinner is served at 6:00 p.m.

Day Three

Another full day of guided sportfishing. As always, mouth-watering appetizers greet you in the Lounge when you arrive back at the Lodge. After enjoying another scrumptious dinner, be sure to take the evening cruise to McKenzie Inlet, where you'll scout for bear, deer, eagles, otters, and other wildlife (daylight permitting). Or you can choose to stay at the Lodge and take pleasure in a quiet evening on shore.

Day Four

Your last full day of guided sportfishing. The floatplane will arrive to take you back to Ketchikan between 4:30 and 6 p.m. You'll have a couple of options. One is going directly to the airport in time to catch a southbound flight or, what we recommend, take an extra night in a Ketchikan hotel of your choice and make the following day your travel day. If you opt for the stay in town, the floatplane will take you to the Ketchikan "waterfront" terminal. There you can catch a taxi or use the courtesy van (Best Western only) to get to your hotel.
