Only United States Coast Guard-licensed Master Mariners with an abundance of saltwater fishing experience are Captains at Sportsman’s Cove Lodge. Additionally, we demand a commitment to excellence and a desire to teach. They must be courteous, well- groomed “People Pleasers” who enjoy hosting novices as well as experts. A strict “Fleet Operations Manual” that requires them to keep their boats spotless and in top mechanical condition at all times guides our Captains.

Just like our Captains, the Deckhands are carefully chosen, clean-cut, “People Pleasers” who truly enjoy their guests. Several will graduate to become Captains at Sportsman’s Cove Lodge. Our Deckhands are here to make sure you don’t lift a finger while aboard our boats. They keep you geared up with bait on, ensure that the boats are immaculate, and fillet your fish with precision.

Our boats are the safest and most spacious available. You’ll spend the majority of your fishing vacation aboard your boat, so it makes sense to maximize your comfort and safety. Our claim to fame is bigger, more comfortable, and safer boats. Owner Larry McQuarrie spent years designing our 37’ walk- around sport fishing vessels and has them custom-built just for Sportsman’s Cove Lodge. Each boat has a warm comfortable cabin, a clean sanitary head, and the latest in navigational electronics. A party of six can enjoy a boat all to themselves.
